Club Code of Conduct

"To all players, officials and parents of Saint Hill Blues FC.

As a club we seek to play competitive football supported by fair play and respect for the rules of the game, our opponents and, in particular, those who officiate at games either in an official or voluntary capacity. The FA has launched a Respect programme to which our leagues and this Club has subscribed. The objective is to promote improved behaviour both on and off the pitch, without which there is an increased risk that there will be fewer referees and coaches willing to support the game that we all enjoy

The Club code of conduct, which is aligned to the FA Respect programme, can be found below and the Management team ask that you all take the time to read and support these principles. Our Club has built up an excellent reputation for fair play and sportsmanship in our short history, please support us to maintain this hard earned recognition.

Club Code of Conduct
Players are the most important people in the sport. Playing for the team, and for the team to win, is the most fundamental part of the game. But not winning at any cost. Fair play and respect for all others in the game is fundamentally important
1. Players Should:

Make every effort to develop their own sporting abilities in terms of skill, technique, stamina and tactics
Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game, regardless of the state of play in the match
Set a positive example to others
Avoid all forms of gamesmanship and timewasting
Not use inappropriate language
Show respect to others, including opponents and match officials, at all time
Make every effort consistent with Fair Play and the Laws of the Game
Know and abide by the Laws of the Game, rules and spirit of the game, and competition rules
Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, equally
Avoid rough and violent play
Accept the decision of match officials without question
Abide by the instructions of the Team Coach and Management, provided they do not conflict with this code of conduct

2. Team Officials Should;

Set a positive example to others, especially young players
Avoid all forms of gamesmanship
Show respect to others, including opponents and match officials, at all time
Not to use or tolerate inappropriate language
Promote and develop their team having regard to the interests of players, supporters and the reputation of the game
Share knowledge and experience when invited or expected to do so
Make every effort to develop the sporting, technical and tactical levels of the club/team and to obtain the best results for the team, using all permitted means and in the spirit of Fair Play
Promote ethical principles
Accept the decision of match officials without question

3. Parents and Supporters should:

Acknowledge that children play football for fun and that the positive behaviour of parents and supporters will contribute to :

Young players’ enjoyment of football
A sense of personal achievement
Self esteem
Improvement in the players’ skills and techniques

A parent’s expectations and attitudes will have a significant bearing on a young player’s attitude towards:

Other players
Officials
Managers
Spectators

Parents and supporters are encouraged to:

Applaud the opposition as well as the “home” team
Avoid coaching the players during the game, this is the role of the team officials
Respect the match officials’ decisions
Give encouragement to all of the team’s players
