Saint Hill Blues 7 Walton Heath 0

Blues continue dominant form

This game against Walton Heath proved to be a different test for the team, the early exchanges saw our midfield and defence standing very firm with us having the greatest share of possession, the breakthrough came midway through the first half when Adam showed great strength to take on the challenges from the opposition and score the first goal, not long after that Walton Heath had a good chance to score when a ball found it’s way through the middle of our defence leaving our Keeper Toby to pull off a fine save and all so important because 1-1 would have put the match in a completely different state. Shortly after Josh got a well deserved goal which took the pressure off a little and we went into half time 2-0 up.

In the second half we came out very strong and Adam added another 2 goals early on, the side kept good shape using the full width of the pitch and was great to watch the passing and movement within the team, Josh had a great game on the right wing running past his man continually and whipping in great balls on many occasions, our domination in the end proved too much for the opposition and we went on to score another 3 goals from William, Josh and a real cracker from Ben Tyler.

Other good personal performances I would like to highlight are from Freddie who although didn’t score today worked really hard and kept their defence well occupied freeing up space for others to exploit and score.
Jack, again he put in so much work and has a great ability to break up the oppositions game and turning play into attack for us.

Ben DeTurris, so solid in defence again and great to see him reading the game so well, looking for the pass if time allows or simply knocking the ball out to allow the team to re-group.

Max, Great organisational qualities at the heart of defence and is always reassuring when I see him talking to the other guys around him.

Alex H, another solid game and was great to see him going forward a couple of times, I guess he took onboard Matt’s coaching from last week.

Big thanks to Marcus again for giving us that extra man and wish him all the best in his game today with the U13’s and really do hope that we can get Jon’s registration in place so he can join us in the team next week.

My man of the match fpr this game goes to Josh, I feel he has started  the season really well and in this match especially against somewhat stiffer opposition, he continually taunted his markers taking them on and running past then, his passing with Alex and Jack worked really well in creating space, he delivered great balls into the box, took superb corners and was rewarded with 2 goals for his efforts.
