St Pauls Panthers 1 Saint Hill Blues 14

Another emphatic victory, unexpected from opponents prior results

League Game: St. Pauls Panthers U12 vs Saint Hill Blues U12.

We arrived at the Friends provident ground, our opponents had only lost twice this season and both these were to the top 2 teams also they lost to Forest Row by the same margin as we did so I was expecting quite a tough game.

The game kicked off and we dominated possession right from the start. The game was only about 3 minuets old when some nice passing led to Freddie tucking away his first of the day. After the resulting kick-off Freddie didn’t have to wait long for his second to come when Benjie put a lovely ball across which again was taken well, then he went on to complete the hattrick this time a corner from Josh which fell to William who put a great ball in to Freddie to net his third.

So 3 up in about 7 minuets the game was looking a lot easier that I had imagined. The half continued with us playing some attractive football, Ben was so instrumental in this, his vision and passing was excellent, so many times seeing the runs being made on the wings and making great passes
to open up our opponents. The 4th goal came midway through the half when Adam looked up to see Josh running in on the far post and then for Josh to calmly convert, soon after Josh was again in the thick of the action on the right side and found Freddie with a pass for Freddie to get his 4th, our 5th.The last action of the half was Adam scoring a great headed goal from a well taken Josh corner.

Half time 6-0 up.

The second half was again dominated by us with Freddie scoring another quick hattrick and taking his tally to 7 for the day.

We then had a great individual goal from Adam who was on one of those runs where he took on many players and hit a rocket of a shot from just inside the box.
After this St. Pauls made a rare break from which it looked like they would score, but all credit to Toby as he pulled off a great save to his right and put it out for a corner.

So at 10-0 up Benjie who had been playing so well during the game went on his own little scoring spree hitting a hattrick which must have equalled the speed of the one which Freddie scored at the beginning on the match, all 3 goals were great, they came from good strength and excellent finishing especially one which was hit on the half volley.

After this we did concede a goal when the opposition played a good through ball which one of their payers latched on to and took well. The game ended with one more goal from Adam for him to complete his hattrick.

For my highlights this week I would first like to pass on the credit given by the oppositions manager, he was impressed with the way we played our football and even when we were so far in front that we still played good football rather than all trying to scored as many as possible. So well done for that boys, it is really nice when our opponents can see what we trying to do and pass good comment on it.

I too was really pleased with the way the team moved the ball about, used the full width of the pitch and sustained good periods of possession through passing and moving. The defence were very cool in passing the ball between each other with Jack and Alex B always looking to receive the ball from Jon or Ben De Turris and Alex and William were very effictive in passing making some good passes up the wings..

Today we were missing Max and so moved Jon over to his position and I thought that he played really well, his strength and height has brought a real asset to the team, he has great ability to clear the ball, turning defensive play into attack and it is also good to see him play the simple ball-out approach if we are in trouble.

Freddie, this is the second week in a row he has scored 7 goals, he has adapted to this role as a lone striker so well and he is finishing with great precision.

Adam, it was good to see him back on the score sheet today and played some lovely balls in to create chances, on 2 occasion’s great vision to switch the ball to the right where both time Josh hit balls on the volley only for the keeper to produce fine saves to prevent more goals.

Benjie, today’s man of the match, his vision in the game is superb, it’s a real quality to enable him to lay the ball off to open up our attack options, in addition to this today showed great composure in his finishing to score 3 goals, well done Ben a great game.
