A bright and lively start to the New Year, with a solid win and 3 more points in the race for the title.

Despite a positive opening spell it was Cuckfield that got the score going, their quick No. 7 catching us on the break and sliding the ball home 0–1. A reaction from us wasn’t far behind and a good finish from Liam 1-1. Just before half time a slip from the Cuckfield Keeper, as he was taking the goal kick, was pounced upon by Liam, another top draw finish 2–1.

There was pressure right from the whistle in the second half and it looked like we would easily take the game away from Cuckfield. A clever ball back to Luke from Lewis, just inside the box, a cultured chip, that may even have run up his shin, and 3–1. With Zak now up front causing some problems for the Cuckfield defence, it was his fine near-post header from a corner that found the net 4–1. Zak then got a second after a high ball in from Lewis on the left, a neat pass from Zak to Tom, then back to Zak for the finish 5–1. A decision for a hand-ball in the area gave Cuckfield a penalty opportunity, Sam managed a save, Cosmos were first to react and 5–2. Despite sustained pressure on every level, Cuckfield managed to break through again and 5–3. But a win was never really in doubt and some controlled play by Conall, found Zak, who put a neat ball through to Lewis on the left, whose masterful cross found Oscar, good control and finish for 6–3.

Very well done Billy, a well deserved MOTM for a committed and spirited performance in defence.
