A jolly start to the festive season as 2 bright stars led the 13 not-so-wise-men to a merry 4-1 victory.

Not sure if it was a Christmas tree formation today, or more of a bauble, but being stable at the back, allowed the host of mid-field and dashing attack to control the game and dominate, especially in the second half.

Lee’s goal came from a  ding-dong battle in the box, with Lewis passing the ball to Lee, who from a tight angle found the back of the net and 1-0. Crawley fought back and a well worked attack with a superb finish made it 1-1. It wasn’t long though before Oscar, after a dancing and prancing set of manoeuvres, blazed the ball into the bottom corner 2-1.

Some low winter sunshine helped to warm the spectators at half time.

Early in the second half Tom was presented with a gift wrapped opportunity, which he took sweetly. The keeper had fumbled the ball after a shot, which he found too hot to handle and Tom slid it in, 3-1. Crawley United then seemed to give us a lot of time and space on the ball and couldn’t stem the Yuletide attack. Rob was the icing on the cake, making mincemeat of the defence with a glittering finish, after James had shepherded the ball through the midfield 4-1.

Crawley, like busy elves, worked hard and did hit the post and had a ball held on the line by Sam (who looked like he was holding a flaming pudding at arms length).

Special well done to Billy, back and eager after a recent injury, who was sleighing the attack. A deserved MOTM.

Despite the cold weather and red noses, we all enjoyed a good morning. A special thanks to Steve and Gary for getting the 3G pitch which enabled the boys to play today.

Neil was our line runner today, bob, bob, bobbing along!

Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year
