Saint Hill Blues 0 Maidenbower 5

Half time injuries influence result

The Blues should take heart from a strong first half performance. For the first 45 minutes the team defended well and although under pressure for much of the half we created a few chances to score before a the visitors took the lead just before half time. George played in goal for the second week running and looked the part, one save in the second half and his confidence on crosses gave heart to the team. Nick played a captain's role at the heart of defence and with excellent support from Chris, J-P, Oli B and Sam we were hard to break down. Matt earned his man of the match award for tireless effort and determination, but when changes were forced with three injuries just after half time the balance of the game firmly shifted to Maidenbower who ran out comfortable winners.

Tom helped to support a changed midfield in the second half, trying to restrict the creation of chances whilst Robert worked hard and used the ball well when given the chance, although we could not provide Ashley with many opportunities to take the game to Maidenbower. Sean played with his usual determination when he replaced Sam, whilst Marcus did his best to fill Greg's boots when he was forced to leave the field. Cyprian made the most of his time on the pitch with some good moments, and with more confidence might have forced a shot on goal towards the end

On balance the team must take credit from the first half performance and move into next week's game with confidence to claim three points! Many thanks to all the players for an excellent effort this morning and to the touchline for solid support, as always!
