Saint Hill Blues 4 Uckfield United 0
Blues secure deserved home victory
A few weeks ago we reached half time with a two goal advantage against Uckfield and despite a patchy first half performance we achieved a similar scoreline after 45 minutes. Rob scored the first when he headed in from close range as the ball bounced around near the far post, and a fine free kick from Chris doubled our lead later in the half. The Blues were energetic and restricted Uckfield to almost no clear sight of goal, but too often we were careless in possession as we tried to rush the ball forward. The defense listened to the half time message to mark tighter and to ensure that our midfield players were free to pick up runners, Chris, George, Patrick and man of the match Oli P denied the visistors any real opportunities, Greg covered securely any shots towards goal.
A strong run from Tom earned a fortunate penalty which Nick converted and when substitute Cyrpian lobbed a fourth over the keeper the points were secured. Sam and Sean were energetic in wide midfield whilst Jean Paul stuck to his task well in central midfield. A rare blank for Ashley, but his runs always caused concern for the visitors
Overall a good team performance which looked more confident as the game progressed
